Gentle reminder: Japanese pronunciation is not my forte. It's not even my moat.

Ok i speak Japanese fluently, so lemme tell you a secret. If you wanna get like 80% of the way to correct Japanese pronunciation instantly, you only need to do one thing. Pause (syllable break) after every vowel (y is not a vowel, don't pause there).

This port has so much potential. There are million things that the modding community could do with it, and I'm sure a few have been done, but if it was anything particularly impressive, I feel like I would've heard about it. The tweeting from a NES is cool, but I have to imagine there are so many better things that can be done.
I donโt remember the power port on the NES being blue. Mandela Effect.
Wait wait wait-- why in the hell does yours say โNES Versionโ? I had to check other images to make sure it wasnโt a Mandela Effect hahahaha
In Europe there were nes copycats that sold cheaper than the original
"gambling being conducted on a device targeted at children" meanwhile in 2021, you cant get away from it
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyy. Minnesota shoutout.
I don't think any new system is as strong as nintendo was. When a nintendo doesn't work, just kick it down the stairs, blow in it and then just barely put the game in and force it down. Presto!!! Lets see an xbox or ps do that.
I've never seen "NES version" on a NES console before either. isn't that a bit redundant to put that on there?
The NES design was way ahead of its time. Not too far from an Xbox One or a PS4. Obviously it's capabilities were of its time, but it wouldn't look absurd in a modern TV cabinet.
the background music is atrocious in this video
7:05 the best part of this sequence is The Neverending Story score.
A lot of electronics will usually have some sort of JTAG, txrx, program or debug port hidden. There are people who play with it as a hobby, it's called "hardware hacking". xDDDD
It's for hiding your weed ty Nintendo
Lol the power blink of death (Or no cart)
I'd like to see if any of the old expansions survive
Back in the day, it was a hiding spot for your stash. Still remember that half-burned joint smell when opened. Smoking blunts was not hip back then. Had to hide it
you can add a db9 port for famicom peripherals with those pins
You mean UK instead of Europe, it was very popular around here and in the other countries, maybe not on the Island.
In 1998 i called nintendo and asked them about this . They said it was only a slot in case of future development and nothing was actually made for it .
The port under the NES is used for nothing and nothing was ever developed for the expansion port. There ye go, that was quicker than 12.5 minutes.
Gambling, on my system, in this day and age?!?. More likely than you think.
Wait so youโre saying there was a cigarette charger in there LEGAL
30 years too late dude. Youre reaching!!!!!!
6:24 that is not at all what Michigan looks like......
This title would've been so much better if you'd started the video off asking it as a question then answering: "No, of course not. Especially in a world where lawsuits are a thing. In fact it would be so ridiculous and baffling that if the NES did have a Master System port, the title would've been an exclamation rather than a question. However what it *actually has* is far more interesting."
Minors gambling with a game system....a precursor to the evil that is lootboxes?
I've never seen one with the plastic tab that required being broken.
You are just a CLOWN clickbait dude thinking about a Secret Master System Port on a Nintendo consoled !!! are you serious or are you are out of your mind !!!??????
Wow holy sht!! I finally got a the answer 32 years later to wtf was that port was for!!!! I always always was thinking and thinking on it since I got the system in 1991 and then found that magical port that never went to anything a internet modem wow in 1991 amazing sht who would ever think on that when i never heard of internet or the word modem it wasn't a thing yet in those years yet and nintendo created the path way a "Modem" WOW . Im a computer guy since 1993 and this is mind popping for me sadly the world back then wasn't ready for the internet what came much later as to what we have now but could of been to do work stuff on a gaming machine made for kids costing 100 to 200$ instead of computer system costing couple of thousands more Thank you buddy!!
We already know. You're about 20 years late.
Innovative as the Famicom in Japan in 1983. Obsolete and irrelevant by the time it was released in America and Europe.
i remember i had to cut the cover in my first NES on a second NES it had a snap cap
Sometimes you learn something new 35 years late
Ironically, now, you can get the Texas lottery app...I didn't even have to upload an ID, I'm legal age, but they never confirmed it. I can buy tickets till I vomit and never have to be of age. Just answer one question that asks me my age...
Probably it was a port for a proposed NES Disk System?
0 min 30 s. That's weird. It is printed NES version on the plastic front. Mine doesn't have that.
I dunno, now that you're showing that they've always put these expansion slots on their systems, it kinda feels like it was only ever a gimmick to lure people into a sense of product longevity and security in their purchase. Look, nothing substantial has ever come from these expansion ports. feels like it was, AT BEST, only ever R&D potential for them in-house.
"[Music plods on like a feverish camel]" wat?
The Game Cube had a modem that connected to the bottom, worked on games such as the GC release of Phantasy Star Online. Just an FYI.
They were probably gonna do something with it like they did with the Famicom and the Disk System addon.
The port is for sponsors but it's actually for non-sponsored content
2:30 I got click baited, fuck
That would have been sick having cross platform play with nes and sega
Every time I see someone talk about the bottom of the NES I hear Xfiles music in my head.
6:26 - What happened to Michigan?
Remember I took mine off . It never worked again even after I put it back on
its for hiding weed.
Lol
I'll tell you, is an expansion port meant to be used for the american version of Disk System that never came to USA, clear?
Was it really less popular in Europe? I wonder how insane it must've been in the US then.
you lost me at sinful controller lol now you're just looking for words
that map of America is terrible
Ah man I was that 30%. I remember in the 1st grade a Nintendo representative came to my school in California which was basically just a cultural Q&A. My question: How do you say Nintendo in Japanese. Haha the ignorance of youth. Still have my console but it's heavily modded these days and Ferrari Red.
"Emu" is pronounced "M U" as in Emulator. I'm always surprised how many so called experts and enthusiasts get this so wrong,...
If you just push in the cartridge just enough to clear the slot that flashing light problem goes away. I just figured that out last week
ugh that background music..
Don't need watch the video .. the answer is obviously no
Does this even matter?
Dude you voided the warranty!
Itโs the expansion, we had one hooked up to an exercise bike so you could stay home and bike down the road at the same time. Genius
Man I wish I could go back and relive my childhood
Christ almighty. Does every flipping video on YT have to be a mega production crammed full of everything but what the title pertains to!? ๐
it was all super advance in code, all teh world east meats west Datson Nissan New Sun, Matrix, SAturn Venus and V for Vandetta, War and Men From MArs..Machismo Nismo MachuPichu and Pikachu to Take a Peek at you. It's about the Lord and Kingdom
Wow back when our government actually cared about publishers pushing vice (gambling) onto children. Can you imagine EA trying to pull the type of trash they do now in 1991? It's a shame we no longer believe in protecting children from predatory companies with "surprise mechanics." It appears both the US of A and jolly old England just don't care about much of anything anymore. Unless of course it's for more nanny state control and if they can wet their beak all the better.
I havenโt seen a Visionaires toy in ages ๐คฃ๐คฃ
mystery solved..
What's the music at 7:24? Reminds of Neverending Story.
Illuminati
It's a really good dust and dirt collector I always had to clean that part out to get the cartridge working again.
Thought I seen something somewhere that the expansion port was for an external CD-ROM chassis?
Hello world.........u forgot one aspect .....high voltage analogy singal transmitter.......be careful .....fcc.......cheers to all........
Ok..whatโs the answer? Lol took way too long
Love that you mentioned the product Chykn offered, it is amazing. You can connect a 4-player Famicom adapter and play Nekketsu Fighting Legend on your toaster NES. Proto-Smash Bros!
President of nintendo owa kowa lemme get a owa owa
This video has about 11 minutes of information NOT related to the title of the video. Click bait at its finest๐
Jeez, you people in the comments just spouting "it's an expansion slot, you're welcome" need to get over yourselves. He takes the time to give the background and story around it. Informative video. You don't have to be pretentious about it. *smh*
Is that,. Neverending Story music LOL llololol
The worlds first Universal Systems Bay? Ha!
I always wondered about this
It was a wire management system save your time
You need to boil your NES pin connector.
Is that song like a Neverending story rip off? Lol
SEGA actually done what NES/SNES could not, SEGA Genesis, 32X and SEGA CD. and with the help of an expansion cart region locked games.
I always thought it was for Nintendo and various others had a computer to hook it up and have a measurement of of human responses for artificial intelligence development purposes. And when your Nintendo went to the dump or was brought into a second hand video game store the data would be collected for use.
I wonderd that to what that was for
You stole the neverending story soundtrack
Wait. Hold on. The peripheral port has direct cpu access?! That means this console could actually be wired up to cluster compute. Would be useless but wouod be a great display in technological prowess.
Take the plastic case off so the cartridge will fit then see what happens.
Actually it was originally designed for connecting to a developer dock as well as the cd addition sony waa supposed to make until nintendo fucked them over with philips then didnt even use philips design.
And now you need a converter just to plug in an Ethernet cable.
It was popular to me as an eight year old i got it with turtles game and of coarse Mario nostalgia love it
The only timeโs Nintendo used an expansion port was with Super Famicon: Satellite View and Nintendo 64: 64DD
It's where I used to stash my weed when I was a kid! (sober now!)
"The never ending story" theme music!!!
The Port is There so you don't have to use it!!!!
Nintendo has been ahead of the game since before the game existed
Would you be interested in purchasing the VHS Tape? I'm in contact with the guy who owns the only VHS (never been uploaded)
There is one on the underside of the Japanese Master System that you can plug rest-of-world Master System games into.
To those my age, remember Sega Channel? I had that idea at age 10 and how be damned if they didn't create it.
