Head to โ€‹ to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code NOSTALGIANERD.... ZX Spectrum owners will be more than familiar with Jetpac. A game by the phenomenal Stamper Brothers released by Ultimate Play the Game. But GameBoy owners will be less familiar with Super JetPak DX, mainly because it has only just been released. However, this excellent little title was originally written way back in 1999 for the GameBoy Color. So why the delay, and what's it like now it's here? Let's investigate.

  • Dam! I only have Scottish pounds. There is no such thing as an English pound unless you think Scotland and Northern Ireland don't count. Individual currency notes are available from all the major banks operating in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as Bank of England notes. There are six banks that print British pound notes that are not based in England, In Northern Ireland, there is the Ulster Bank, Bank of Ireland, and Northern Bank, and in Scotland, there is the Clydesdale Bank, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and the Bank of Scotland. All banknotes are considered pound Sterling or simply British pounds, not English. Alba gu Brath

  • My first Spectrum game too! I was a 20 , just finished my electrical apprenticeship with Thorn Lighting in Enfield. I had found another job and it was my last day. Companies used to pay cash in those days , and they made you work a "week in hand" so when you left you got 2 weeks money. I had a ZX81 and used to dream of the spluttery sounds and colour of the speccy. I picked up my money and drove my 1974 ford Cortina to Enfield town and went to WH Smiths. If you watch "Micro Men" (on youtube for free) Smith's looked just like the shop Chris Curry visits. Bought my 148k spectrum and got the choice of a free game. I had been in the shop a few days before , so knew which game it had to be. Then drove home to have some dead flesh feel , rubber key fun. Got it in the ear from my girlfriend for "wasting" ยฃ140 ! It was an odd time to be into computers, seemed like a new system/consul came out every month. The good old days!

    • @Nick C Depends on what you mean about normal GB/C ROM. The smallest games are 32kb. Super JetPak DX is 128kb ROM (1/8th of a Mb), using a MBC5 bank switcher, 8x16kb banks. The biggest official GBC ROM is 65,536kb (64Mbit) Densha de Go! 2, that I am aware of. So I really do think the EZ-Flash Jr can play it no problems, as the webpage says it will support up to 64Mbit games.

      Asobi techAsobi tech2 maanden geleden
    • @Asobi tech I read that the ROM is bigger than a normal GB/C ROM, if that's true some older flash carts might not like it. I believe the EZ-Flash Jr can handle larger fan made games and ports.

      Nick CNick C2 maanden geleden
    • I don't know if this is of any help but I played it on the Lameboy emulator on the Nintendo DS just fine.

      EvilDrFishEvilDrFish2 maanden geleden
    • @Nick C I haven't personally tried it on the EZ-Flash Jr, but there's no reason why it shouldn't work. There's nothing special about the ROM. Also the boxes aren't "sealed"

      Asobi techAsobi tech2 maanden geleden
    • @Asobi tech Thank you. Also do you know if the ROM has been tested to run on a EZ-Flash Jr? I plan on getting the ยฃ40 option and keeping it sealed in the box, but I do want to still play it on original hardware.

  • Do not get me wrong, I appreciate the effort and love the retro gaming scene, but I have been arguing for 30 years (not that I knew the term as a kid) that the Game Boy was Stockholm Syndrome for gamers. You will never find any other system that represented a pure devolution of graphics and sound that was so popular.

    CallOfDrewthulhuCallOfDrewthulhu2 maanden geleden
    • It is my favorite family of systems. I hate X Box and Sony. I have at least a thousand or two into gameboy. Judge as you will but it's the best to me. So many old games are actually better on the system like Mr.Do! for instance. A lot of heart went into that system. Zelda Link's Awakening was years ahead of its time.

  • I like the *MizuCat* Game Boy, especially on the back, but I couldn't own one of those without also owning the original gray Game Boy. Both versions are valid in their own right, but while I'm nostalgic for those 80s-90s graphics, I'm more nostalgic for the clean look of the original hardware. Both look amazing, though. To rephrase, I'd want to own both the original gray, _and_ a *MizuCat* Game Boy... but if I absolutely had to choose one, it would be the original gray.

Not just the teamwork between you and other NLworld users but also the game itself. 1) It's a fairly competent port of a classic Spectrum game 2) the man behind it sells it as if it was a retail game back in the day 3) when buying the complete package you even get the naked ROM file and your name is in it. 4) it runs on both the DMG/SGB/Pocket as well as anything after the Color if so desired.
